Born in Akron on April 28, 1924 to the late Mary and Peter Hritz, Liz had been a lifetime area resident. She attended McEbright Elementary School and graduated from Garfield High School. During World War II she worked as a 'Rosie the Riveter' for Goodyear Tire & Rubber. She retired from Firestone Tire & Rubber in 1984 after 10 years of service. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for over 85 years, until its closing in October of this year.
In addition to her parents, Liz was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Adam in 1984 and sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Gilbert Bonenberger. She is survived by her daughter, Paula (Steve) Adam; son, Robert (Judi) and Kenneth (Judy) Adam; grandchildren, Jeff (Karen) McGlaughlin, Darren (Laura) McGlaughlin, Marc (Felicia) Adam, Matthew Adam, Shawn and Lindsay Adam, and Steve 'Pudge' Kelly; great-grand-children, Sydney and Jerry McGlaughlin, Rylee and Marc Adam, and Holly and Taylor Adam.
The family will receive friends TODAY from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony Funeral Home Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Chapel, 1990 S. Main St. in Akron, where a rosary will be said at 4:15 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church on Brown St. in Akron. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elizabeth's memory may be made to the Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333 or to the St. Paul Building Fund, 433 Mission Drive, Akron, OH 44301.
