Theodore Jacob Nick III went to sleep in His Creator, Redeemer and Savior on July 17, 2015, in Klamath Falls, Ore. He was known to his friends as Ted. Ted was born in Annapolis, Md. Oct. 13, 1946 to Volandta Marie (Juerss) and Theodore Jacob Nick Jr. He graduated from Severna Park High School in Maryland, class of '64. Upon graduating, he traveled to Mexico to do missionary work. When he returned to the USA, he worked in Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama in several health institutions - in a sanitarium as a nurse's aide, in a health food store and a bakery, and as a teacher in an elementary school. While in Georgia, he met and married Betty Neufeld. They migrated west to Walla Walla, Wash., for Ted to attend college to study theology. Ted's father, a veteran of World War II, who was a director in the National Cemetery System, retired in Klamath Falls in 1986. That same year, in July, Ted and Betty moved to be closer to them. While living in Klamath Falls, Ted and Betty were divorced. They had no children. Betty was a faithful and loving wife. When her health failed, her parents lovingly accepted the care of their daughter. Ted started a contracting business in Klamath Falls doing cleaning and small maintenance jobs, building it into 20 years as a remodel contractor. His business was developed by word of mouth, never having to advertise. Ted wished to express his appreciation to all of his loyal clients over the years. It was during this time that he met his "Sweet Lady," Carol Nanneman. They have been special friends for 16 years. Upon his retirement, he moved to Central Point in 2005 to take care of his parents. Ted was the last of the Nick family line. Ted moved back to Klamath Falls in 2011 to be with Carol Nanneman. Ted and Carol enjoyed many life experiences together. She was the one who faithfully cared for Ted during his time of cancer and passing. Ted enjoyed experiencing the great outdoors while he camped, hiked and climbed Mt. Shasta, Mt. Thielsen and Mt. McLoughlin. Hawaii was one of his favorite places to travel. He always enjoyed gardening and landscaping to make any place look more beautiful. Reading the Bible, theology and philosophy were an important part of Ted's life. He was thankful to God in Christ who guided his life. He looked forward to the resurrection when God will restore all things to their rightful place (I Cor. 15:42). Ted was always thinking of others. He was a giving person, loving son and wonderful friend. He will be greatly missed. Ted is survived by Carol Nanneman; ex-wife, Betty Nick of Lewiston, NY; aunt, Gladys McBride and cousin, Margaret Yates, both of Blue Springs, Mo.
