Sgt Eric Autobee had worked for the Colorado Department of Corrections at the Limon Correctional Facility in Limon, Colorado for 20 months, he was the Food Service Supervisor. He had been attacked in the kitchen by a convict, beaten to death. He had been struck in the back of the head by a kitchen instrument. The attack was unprovoked. Sgt. Autobee was flown to the Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado, where he died from his injuries. The suspect was convicted of his murder and sentenced to death. Sgt. Autobee was just 23.

Potential Jurors for Colorado Killer, begged to reject the death penalty against him. The victims father stated, "My son wouldn't want the death penalty." Edward Moutour was the killer of Eric Autobee, and also had been sentenced to life in prison for killing his infant daughter. Moutour has pleaded not guilty due to reason of insanity.

Eric Autobee graduated from Pueblo County High School in 1998 and Pueblo Community College in 2000 . He was a lifelong Pueblo Resident. He enjoyed Game Hunting, Turkey Hunting, Fishing, and was a big Denver Broncos Fan. He alsoi enjoyed the Colorado Avalanche Hockey Team and Billiards. He owned a 1964 Red Chevy Impala Supersport, and he was an Alter Server and Usher for the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Frances and Charles Autobee, Uncles Charles Autobee and John Romero, and a Cousin Anthony Ortiz. He is survived by: His Parents, Lola and Bob Autobee, Grandparents Grace and Benito Ortiz, his girlfriend Michelle Mojica, a younger sister Bernadette Mojica, plus several Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins.
