Joe Lee Hutchins August 9, 1929 - July 22, 2015

IMPERIAL BEACH -- Joe L. Hutchins born August 29, 1929 in Maypearl, TX, passed into eternal life July 22, 2015. He is survived and treasured by his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia Ann Hutchins, his daughters Karen and Cheryl, grandchildren, Joel, Jake and Allison, as well as many other cherished family members and friends. Joe Lee was a decorated United States Navy SEAL who served the nation for 23 years, stationed in Coronado. He served in combat in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Upon retiring from the military in 1969 he embarked on a successful Real Estate career, founding Hutchins Realty which is still in operation today. Joe Lee coached little league, was a lifetime member of the Imperial Beach Chamber of Commerce, served as a Director and Officer of the South Bay Board of Realtors and was active in the Kiwanis Club. His faith in Christ, devotion to family, friends and community and duty to his country, were his life, his mantra and his purpose. He accepted each of these callings with pride and honor. He is remembered for his spirit of generosity and kindness. Joe enjoyed almost anything outdoors, including gardening and landscaping. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 27th, from 4-8 p.m. at Community Mortuary. The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 29th, at 2 p.m. at Ocean View Church with a reception to follow. A private interment will be held at Miramar National Cemetery. Memorials in his memory can be made to the Salvation Army or Boys and Girls Club of Imperial Beach.
