RESIDENT OF RED OAK FOR MANY YEAERS PASSED AWAY FROM EFFECTS OF HEART ATTACK
Newton Emerson Vance, 66, resident of Red Oak and Montgomery County for many years, died Sunday night, December 17, and was found dead in bed Monday morning. He has suffered a stroke some time ago nd had not been well since that time.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 21, at 2 p.m. at the Sellergren Funeral Home, with Rev. Guy Fansher officiating. Pall bearers were F. H. McLaughlin, Otto Koenemann, H. S. Cloud, Frank Stout, Vergil Spicer, and Edwin Engquist. Music will be by Miss Marian Cooke, soloist, with Mrs. Ray Cozad as accompanist. Mrs. F. H. McLaughlin and Mrs. Earl Butler compose the flower committee.
Newton Vance was born at Sargent, Nebraska, February 11, 1879. He came to Montgomery County 35 years ago and had made his home in Red Oak and Villisca since then until going to Omaha about a year ago to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Keith Peterson, at whose home he died. He was a grocery salesman during his lifetime.
Mr. Vance is survived by the following children, Mrs. Ruth Herring, Kansas City, Missouri, Newton E. Vance, Jr., Salina, Kansas, Mrs. Keith Peterson, Omaha, and Norton Vance, Kansas City. There are eight grandchildren. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
