Jessie James Davis, age 77, of Little Cane Creek, Williamsburg, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015 at his home. He was born on Oct. 15, 1937, in Clinchmore, Tennessee to the late Jess Davis and Polly Bray Davis.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Melvina Davis; and his children, Leasia Evans and Linda Smith.

He was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church of Gausdale.

He is survived by his children, Rick Davis and wife Katrina, Kevin Evans and wife Kathy and David Evans, all of Williamsburg; his loving companion Edith Faye Leach and her children, Debbie Powell and Shirley Leach, all of Williamsburg; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Zella Davis, of Williamsburg, Terri Rice and Brenda Sutton, of Corbin; two brothers, Tommy Davis and wife Naomi, of Williamsburg, and Humack Davis, of Illinois; two sisters, Ruthie Buhl and Faye Shelton, of Williamsburg; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Sunday, July 19, 2015 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2015, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronnie Bowman and Mr. Bill Hamblin officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Youngs Creek Cemetery. Jeremiah Sutton, Adam Cox, Jonah Rice, Nathaniel Davis, Zachary Davis, Alex Evans and Blake Evans will serve as pallbearers.
