Great Grandpa James R Lafferry was Grandpa James Sivley's commanding officer during the civil war. They were in the 3rd AR Infantry Division stationed at Dardanelle, Arkansas. Great Grandpa invited Grandpa Sivley to his home in Kentucky for a visit. He said he would be back when grandma was old enough to marry. He returned to Arkansas and went back to Kentucky and married her after she become of age. She had become a beautiful young lady. They homesteaded 160 acres just east of Subiaco, Arkansas, in Logan County. The home had three fireplaces in it. They would add on another fireplace as they had more children. This account was told to Joe Clyde Nichols, son of Josephine Sivley Nichols, Grandpa James Sivley's daughter, when he was approximately ten to twelve years of age.
