Greenville (Texas) Messenger, Thu, 19 Nov 1936, page 5, I.M. STRINGER DIED HERE TUESDAY NIGHT
I.M. Stringer, 62, long an outstanding figure in the undertaking business in Greenville, died Tuesday night, following a period of ill health covering some two years or more.
I.M. Stringer had been in the undertaking business in Greenville, for practically 40 years.
He was head of the undertaking department of the late G.H. Collins and for some years directed the undertaking department of the combined furniture and undertaking business of the late R.F. Jones and for many years had been in business as an exclusive undertaker and was the first such undertaker in Hunt county.
He was also among the first licensed undertakers in the State, and ranked among the pioneers in his line.
Generous in spirit, he aided many who were financially incapable of meeting the funeral expenses of their loved ones.
He was a member of the Christian Church, was usually active in the local political affairs and of that whole-hearted type, who went strong for whatever he espoused.
He is survived by his wife and four children: Tell, Herman and Collins Stringer, of this city, and Mrs. George Spencer (sic), of Laredo, Texas.
