Mary E. Curry, 97, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. She was born June 7, 1910, in Key West, Fla., to Holton and Ethel (Thompson) Roberts. Mary was raised in Key West and, as a little girl, lived on Dry Tortugas, where her father was the lighthouse keeper.
Mary was employed by the Harris Elementary School cafeteria in Key West for 22 years, retiring Nov. 30, 1971. She moved to Homestead, Fla., in 1983 and resided there until she moved to Fort Walton Beach in 2000. She was a devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend to everyone.
She is survived by her sons, Fred L. Curry and his wife, Kathy, of Fort Walton Beach, and Jack R. Curry and his wife, Jeanne, of Jasper, Ga.; sisters Elma E. Warren and Gladys H. Smith; nieces Daphne W. Phelps and her husband, Forrest, and Paula L. Bushelle and her husband, William; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and great-nieces and -nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Arthur J. Curry; brothers Raymond and Millard; and grandson Kevin Curry.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at Heritage Gardens Funeral Home in Niceville, Fla. There will be a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. also on Saturday at the funeral home. You may view a memorial and sign the guestbook at www.heritagegardensfuneralhome.com.
