Helen went to rest on Monday, January 13, 2014. Born in Houston, TX, she was the daughter of Martha McAshan Guerin and Whipple Spaulding Newell, Jr.
She grew up in Austin and was a graduate of Westlake High School. Helen attended the University of Texas where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She was involved in the Junior League and an avid bridge player.
A beautiful daughter and mother, she is survived by her parents and children Hunter Houston of San Antonio, Louisa Houston Vann (Philip) of Columbia, SC, and Russell McAshan "Mac" Brady of Austin. Other survivors include her siblings Dr. James T. Robison, IV (Cheryl), Liza N. Near (John), Whipple S. Newell, III (Keelin), Frances R. Osborne, and Joel W. Robison as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
