Rep. Blanchard’s Widow, 84, Dies in Edgerton. Mrs. Helen Blanchard, 84, widow of former U.S. Rep. and State Senate floor leader George W. Blanchard, died Monday Dec 18, 1972 in a hospital after a long illness. Mr. Blanchard, who died in 1964, was elected to Congress in 1932, after serving in the State assembly two years, and in the State Senate from 1926-1932. The Blanchard’s son, David served in the State Assembly from 1954 to 1962 when he died. His wife, Carolyn, won her late husband’s post in the Assembly and served for four terms. The Blanchard family had been active in law practice in Edgerton for 30 years.
