She was a native of Guilford County and the daughter of the late Otto and Hazel Crutchfield Burnside. She was retired from Western Electric, with 25 years of service and was a member of the Daughters of America. Mrs. Pickard was a member of Caraway United Methodist Church, where she had been involved with the United Methodist Women.
She was survived by her husband of 64 years, O.E. "Eddie" Pickard; one son, Edwin T. Pickard of Jamestown; one sister, Helen Thornberry of Greensboro; two grandchildren, Tommy Pickard and Laura Pickard; and one great-grandchild, Cain Pickard.
The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2001, at the funeral home and at other times, at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials were made to either Carraway United Methodist Church, 1301 16th Street, Greensboro, N.C. 27405 or Carolina Piedmont Chapter of Alzheimers Association, 3420 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, N.C. 28215.
