BINA FERNE DUNKIN - Funeral services for Bina Ferne Dunkin were held January 22, 1991 at the Shum-Novinger Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Cummings. Burial was in Washington Cemetery, Gravity, Iowa.
Bina Feme Akers Dunkin, daughter of Herby Akers and Jane Ann Alderson Akers, was born near Gravity, Iowa April 30, 1904 and departed this life January 19, 1991 at the Mercy Hospital in Corning, Iowa at the age of 86 years, eight months and 19 days.
She grew to maturity in the Gravity community where she attended the Gravity Public School and the Methodist Church.
On August 4, 1921 she was united in marriage to Carl E. [manuel] Dunkin at Bedford, Iowa. They lived and operated the farm where Carl was born all of their married life together.
To this union three children were born: Doyle, Lois and Jean.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Icy and Zelda and three brothers, Carl, Ivan and Doyle.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Carl of the home; their children, Doyle L. Dunkin and his wife Virginia of Albuquerque, N.M.; Lois D. Novak and her husband Ralph of Houston, Texas; and Jean D. Roeder and her husband Jim of Council Bluffs, Iowa; four grandchildren: Ralph Martin Novak, Jane Ann Robertson, Steve Roeder and Laura Roeder; two great grandchildren; a sister, Eva Harris of Council Bluffs, Iowa and two sisters-in-law, Eva Akers and Vera Akers of Bedford, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
She will be remembered by her family and friends as a good wife and mother, grandmother and neighbor and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
