She was a graduate of the H.H. Arnold High School, Wiesbaden, Germany, the Chandler School for Women, Boston and of the California Escrow School and Katella Real Estate School. She had worked as a real estate associate and property manager.

Mrs. Crane was active in the community and had served as publicity chairwoman and luncheon chairwoman for the New Comers Club of Dover. She was an active member of the 32nd Republican District Committee and had served as its treasurer and chairwoman. She also was an active member of the American Heart Association, the 2004 Heart Ball Auction Committee, the Republican Women's Club and was a Red Cross volunteer.

As a military dependent, Mrs. Crane traveled extensively, and had lived in New York, California, Turkey, Illinois, Washington, D.C., Florida, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Louisiana, Alaska, Arkansas, France and Germany.
