He was born June 3, 1903 in Chicago, Illinois, to Frederic and Therese (Gutenburg) Denecke.
Formerly of Chicago, he was a painter/decorator most of his lifetime.
While living in Chicago, he and his late wife Gertrude also owned and operated two restaurants on the north side, Bill and Gert's Restaurant, and the Paradise Inn. He moved to the Northbrook area for several years and in 1975 moved to the Round Lake area.
He maintained his decorating business for many more years in the Round Lake area.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Vincent de Paul Society.
He was an avid fisherman.
Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Kenneth (Trudy) Denecke and William (Marge) Denecke , both of Round Lake Beach; a daughter, Geraldine (Edward) Perry of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; two stepsons, William (Lorraine) Tykowski and Richard (Marge) Tykowski, both of Ingleside; 24 grandchildren, Audrey, Kenneth E. (Pat), Therese (Joe), Edward (Marilyn), Jeffrey (Kandace), Henry (Karen), Patricia (Jeff) Weleter, Mary (Randy), Larry (Gwen), Jeanne (Dan) Lazzarotto, Joni, Paul, William (Carol), Steve, Michael (Claire), Lori (John) Ridgeway, James (Denise), Robert (Wendy), Karen (Jim) Kennedy, Edward (Robin) Perry, Michael (Robin) Perry, Mark Perry, Kathryn Perry, Greg (Carmen) Perry; 45 great-grandchildren; and many step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude E. (Dryer) on January 27, 1972; his second wife, Sophie (Lowery); a brother, Richard Denecke ; three sisters, Evelyn Denten, Gertrude Miller and Dolly Johnson.
Visitation will be from 3:30 to 9 PM on Friday, January 2, 1998 at JUSTEN'S ROUND LAKE FUNERAL HOME, 222 N. Rosedale Court (Cedar Lake Road at Rosedale Court), Round Lake.
Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 AM Saturday, January 3, 1998 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Round Lake. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
