Jesse Adaire Abbott born February 28, 1918 to Adam Jesse Abbott and Tressa Cooper, died October 22, 1981 at the age of 63 years, 7 months, 24 days, at the Grape Community Hospital, Hamburg, Fremont County, Iowa. Cause of death was cardio respiratory arrest due to hypo polemic shock due to a gun shot wound to the abdomen, K. D. Rodabaugh M. D. Box 240, Tabor, Iowa Surviving Spouse Catherine McEihlney. He was a farm laborer. His residence was Tabor, Fremont County, Iowa-51653. His mothers maiden name was Tressa Cooper. Burial was in the Tabor cemetery on August 24, 1981. Robert H. SERVICES FOR JESS ABBOTT
Jesse Adaire Abbott was born February 28, 1918, to Adam Abbott and Teresa Cooper Abbott in Imogene, Iowa. Later the family moved to Nebraska and Jesse grew up around Nebraska City and Union.
He moved back to Iowa and married to Cathrine Lou McElhiney in July 1945. To this union was born nine children whom he loved dearly.
He is survived by his wife Catherine and children: Larry Abbott of rural Glenwood; Linda, Mrs. Bob McMillin of Red Oak, Iowa; Nancy, Mrs. Tom Mackey of Hastings; Carolyn, Mrs. Larry Hayes of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Ruth, Mrs. Terry Eaton of Craig, Missouri; Kathy, Mrs. Hobbie Pieken of Emerson, Iowa; Donald Abbott of Tabor, Iowa; Jim Abbott of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Gary Abbott still at home. Also his sister, Mrs. Iva Biggert of Sioux City, Iowa and his brother, Robert, address unknown; his stepmother, Mrs. Bonnie Abbott of Stanton, several half brothers and sisters and fourteen grandchildren.
In 1971 he suffered a fall from a horse resulting in severe injuries. His health deteriorated steadily from that time. He passed away October 22 at Grape Community Hospital, Hamburg, Iowa.
Jesse will be remembered as one who made friends, loved people, and loved the outdoors.

INVESTIGATORS AT SCENE OF SHOOTING
According to the Mills County Sheriffs Office, a self-inflicted stomach wound made by a 410 shotgun caused the death of Jess Abbott of rural Tabor, Iowa on October 22nd.
The Tabor fireman and the Tabor ambulance crew were called to the scene 5 miles east on the county line road near the Nishna River. When fireman arrived at the scene, Abbott's pickup was on fire and was quickly extinguished.
