POMONA - Sam E. Cook died unexpectedly Monday morning in Pomona Valley Community Hospital.
Mr. Cook was born Dec. 17, 1913, in St. Louis, Mo. He came to Pomona in 1946 from St. Louis.
For the past 27 years, Mr. Cook worked for Wright Brothers & Rice. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II with the 82nd Airborne Division, receiving his commission as a lieutenant on the battlefield.
He was a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church and the Pomona Valley Sailing Association.
Besides his widow, Jane L., survivors are a daughter, Candice Cook of Mammoth Lakes; a son, Jeffrey of San Luis Obispo; a sister, Mrs. Joy Byrket of Claremont; and a brother, Eugene of Upland.
Services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Todd Memorial Chapel Pomona. Dr. Benton S. Gaskell, pastor of Pilgrim Congregational Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Ontario.
