Gayle Moore Finney, 63, of Columbus, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Doug Finney; two sons, Doug (Gena) Finney Jr., and Christopher (Susan) Finney; four grandchildren. Austin Finney, Kyle Finney, Cole Finney and Claire Finney, all of Columbus; and her sister, Jacquelyn (Bob) Freeman of Bedford. Gayle was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Moore Jr. and Maxine Anderson Moore of Bedford, Indiana; and a son, Timothy Finney.
Gayle was born and raised in Bedford, Indiana, where her family owned and operated Anderson Roller Rink for 55 years. Gayle was raised on roller skates and later carried this tradition on to her children. She graduated from Bedford High School in 1968.
Gayle was a member of the Columbus Free Methodist Church. She was a Hospice volunteer in the early years of the organization's formation in Columbus. Gayle was a retired Real Estate Broker and member of the Indiana Board of Realtors since 1984. She was a past member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Bedford and Columbus. In addition, she was a member of both the Columbus Quilters and Columbus Rug Hookers club.
Gayle will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and loving nature.
She had a true passion for antiquing. She also loved playing cards, reading books and spending time with family and friends. Her loss weighs heavy on the hearts of the many she touched.
Viewing will be held on Monday, January 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Meyers & Reed Chapel at 3729 25th St. and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church. Funeral service will be conducted by Jane Noblitt, Chet Martin and Larry Dalton at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, at Columbus Free Methodist Church at 1511 22nd St. Graveside service will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Bedford, Indiana at 2:00 p. m..
