Grace Englett, daughter of Clay Mack, grand-daughter of John R. Inglet, tells of how John R. Inglet was wounded in the war. Papa said they were going across the creek when he got shot in the leg and his horse was wounded also. He fell in the water and his buddy helped him to the bank, then his buddy got shot. When he rasied his head to see about his buddy, John was shot between the temple and forehead. John said he guessed he laid there for a long time because it was morning when they started across the creek and after he got shot the second time the next he knew was being moved and it was dark. When his unit moved from Pulaski all wounded were left behind, John among them. He was left with his name and where he was from only. John met Conona "Ann" Bunch, who was taking care of him and they were married six months later, on January 19, 1865.
