Lester Savelle Bancroft, 86, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2015.
Lester Savell Bancroft, 85, of Escatawpa, MS, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2015 in Pascagoula, MS. Lester was born on August 4, 1929 in Prichard, AL to the late Charles Edward and Mary Emily Bancroft. He was a welder by trade, but loved the time he served as a firefighter both paid and volunteer for over 50 years. He was a 32 degree Mason Scottish Rite, a Shriner and a veteran of the United States Army. He will be remembered as a kind man that never met a stranger.
In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by two brothers, Cleo Bancroft and James Bancroft.
The visitation for Lester will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Escatawpa, MS. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015 in the funeral home chapel beginning at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. J.W. Crawley and Teresa Pierce officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens with Len Smith, Bruce Lynd Sr., Mark Condreay, Mike Sheilds, Roy Stewart, and Tommy Tyson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Lynd Sr., Kenneth Peacock and the Escatawpa Volunteer Fire Department.
