Wolfgang A. "Wolf" Schiessl, loving husband of Eileen (Jones) Schiessl, passed away on July 31, 2015, at Evergreen Healthcare in Stafford.

Wolf was born in Rottenacker, Germany, on Oct. 7, 1934, the son of the late George and Emmy (Joerg) Schiessl, and resided in Somers for the past 77 years. Wolf graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield and was an Army veteran. He worked at Sterling Orr Cadillac, then for many years at Parks Superior Sales in Somersville and later retired as a firefighter/correction officer for the State of Connecticut.

In addition to his wife, Eileen, to whom he was married for 54 years, Wolf leaves behind two sons, Gary, and his wife, Kathy, of Somers, Ken, and his wife, Ralene, of Greenville, Florida. He leaves behind his devoted grandchildren, Courtney, Jon, and Nick. He was predeceased by a daughter, Wendy Anne. He also leaves behind his brother, Konrad, and his wife, Lois, in addition to his nieces and nephews, Debbie Kuhman, and her husband, Norb, and Marie and Keith Ammerman.

Wolf was an active volunteer with the Somers Fire Department for 61 years and was a past chief of the department. He dedicated his life to helping the citizens of Somers, responding any time of the day or night to come to their aid. The department members were Wolf's second family.

In addition, Wolf greatly enjoyed the sport of motorcycling for many years, participating in all types of off-road events, and was a member of the RAMS Motorcycle Club, and Chapter 101 of the American Legion Riders. He was a member of All Saints Church and the American Legion Post #101, in Somers. He enjoyed the company of many friends who he met during these activities. Once you met Wolf, you never forgot him.

The family would like to thank the employees at Smilow Cancer Center in New Haven and Evergreen Healthcare for their kindness during his care.

Calling hours will be held Monday, Aug. 3, 2015, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Somers Funeral Home, 354 Main St., (Route 190) Somers. Family and friends will gather Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at 9:30 a.m. at the Somers Funeral Home for a procession to All Saints Church, 25 School St., in Somersville, for a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Committal will follow at Somers Center Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Somers Fire Department Association, 400 Main St., Somers, CT 06071.
