John was the son of Edward Burhans and Bridget Blanchant Burhans. He married first to Mary Dubois in January 1801 at Ulster County, New York. They had four children. Mary died in 1809 and he married next to Hannah Peck about 1810 at Roxbury. They had five children that I know of.
