"Mick" passed away suddenly on July 16th, leaving behind his loving wife of 41 years, Kerry, his sons Dan (Sharon) and Donn (Lisa), his stepdaughter, Laura Sullivan (Mike), and eight grandchildren including Gretchen and Brittany Feighner, the daughters of Mick's daughter, Debra Feighner (Kyle), who preceded him in death in 2008. Other grandchildren are Leanne and Sarah Gerlach, Michael Gerlach, and Ian, Bridget, and Katie Sullivan. Mick is also survived by a sister Dolores Roberts, of Brookfield, Wisconsin.

All of us are left with wonderful memories and valuable lessons as the legacy of a man who did not pass this way without purpose. His long and productive life included different phases, but a single theme of doing everything to the utmost and enjoying every challenge as a new possibility for success. He often wondered why people would say they were going to work. For him, it was going to fun.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mick loved his heritage and connection to that city and subscribed to Milwaukee magazine at the time of his death. He was very proud of serving in the Air Force and particularly proud that his service was on the staff of Stars and Stripes, the newspaper of the armed forces.

One of the most significant periods of his life was the almost 20 years he spent as an employee of the W.A. Krueger Company, a printing company in Milwaukee where he began sweeping floors and continued to become a very successful salesman for the company, a job he loved and of which he was very proud. His customers could attest to that. Many of the founders and fellow employees of the Krueger Company were among the people Mick most admired in life. He felt being associated with them was one of the greatest gifts of his life.

Mick was transferred to California by the Krueger Company in an expansion attempt that Krueger ultimately abandoned. Having fallen in love with California, he declined a transfer back to Milwaukee and opened a new chapter of life as an entrepreneur, owning and operating two car washes in Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley for almost 20 years.

Retirement brought Mick to the Santa Ynez Valley, renewing a connection to farming and to the land which began with his father's family in Wisconsin. He loved tractors, "gators", lawn mowers, (actually any machinery), a love that had helped him in the car wash business as well.

Mick could fix anything and improve anything and taught many others to do the same as he touched their lives. He always believed a person should keep moving forward and accomplish something meaningful. We're sorry his next move forward took him from us.

Rosary for Mick was held July 19th, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on July 20, 2015, at Old Mission Santa Ines. Interment is next to his daughter, Debra Feighner, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Ballard, California.
