Darlene R. Alsip, 72, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away early Friday morning, July 31, 2015 at her home.

Born April 3, 1943 in Winfield, Kansas, she was the daughter of Elmer and Cordie P. (Sumner) Hill. She was raised and received her education in Burden, Kansas.

Darlene was united in marriage to Richard D. Alsip on November 19, 1966 in Oxford, Kansas. The couple made their first home in Cambridge and in 1967 moved to Winfield. Mrs. Alsip worked as a caretaker for several area nursing homes. She took pride in being a homemaker, spending most of her life raising her family.

She was a member of Burden Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing bingo and slot machines, working on arts and crafts and shopping. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her family includes: Her husband: Richard Alsip of Winfield; Her children: Anita Parker and husband, Tracy of Kildare, OK; Richard Alsip, III of Larned, KS; Joletta Wilson and husband, David of Winfield; Rebecca Crowley and husband, Robert of Winfield; Her sisters: Rita Kirkpatrick and husband, Richard of Osawatomie, KS; Cleo Wolfe of Albany, OR; Her grandchildren: Tara Fry and husband, J.R., Tracy Jordan and husband, Travis, Kali Wallace and fiancé, Nathan Lemmons, Cassandra Beamer and fiancé, Joe Snedeker, Jessica McFarland and husband, Chris, Christina Alsip, Merika Wilson, Colton Parker, Amber Crowley, Michael Crowley, Deanna Horn and fiancé, Brock Denson, Marissa Wingert; and Her 13 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her daughter, Bonita Head.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Burden Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service on Tuesday evening from 5 to 9 P.M. The family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 that evening.

Memorials have been established in Darlene’s name for the American Lung Association and the American Heart Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
