D/o Philippine Walch.
Sister of Marie Walch; half sister of
Lucien, Julia & Hortense Zimmermann.
Wife of George Crosby (married c. 1909).
Mother of Stanley, Benton & George Crosby.

Though she could be mistaken to be the daughter of Joseph Kegresse (#98207263) & Julie Walch (#98207262), per French census records, she lived with her mother, stepfather, sister, and 3 half siblings in Belfort in 1896. On Feb. 10, 1899, her mother died, and that's probably why she and her sister Marie Madeleine emigrated to the U.S. with their aunt and the Kegresses. Josephine was only 11 when her mother died, so it's likely she was adopted or just given the name Kegresse since she was being raised in a Kegresse household.

At 1905 census, age 17, lived in Essex Co., New Jersey in what appears to have been a type of boarding house.

At 1910 census, age 22, lived in Foxboro, Norfolk Co., Mass.

At 1930 census, age 43, lived w/two sons in Darien, Fairfield Co., Conn., married but head of household with five boarders.

At 1940 census, age 53/divorced, worked as housekeeper for two men in Norwalk, Fairfield Co., Conn.
