Glasgow Weekly Times, Glasgow, Mo. 7-19-1855: Kansas Legislature. The Legislature of Kansas Territory met at Pawnee, on the 2d. Thomas Johnson, of the Methodist Mission, was elected President of the Council, and Richard K. Reese, President pro tem. J. A. Holderson Secretary, and Mr. Grover Assistant Secretary. Dr. J. H. Stringfellow was chosen Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Lisle Clerk, and Mr. Martin Assistant Clerk. All the members who held certificates were admitted to seats.--Soon after the organization, they adjourned to meet at the Mission.
