Born Emilia Yznaga. Emilie, as she preferred to be known, was the third daughter of Antonio Modesto Yznaga-del Valle, a wealthy Cuban immigrant, holding large estates on that island, with an established and successful Commission Merchant business in New York. Emilie's mother, Ellen Maria Clement was born in Louisiana. Her parents came from a well known and respected New England family that acquired a plantation in the Natchez area of Louisiana in the early 1800’s.

She was 83 years old and lived at the Hotel Madison, 15 East 58th street. Miss Yznaga was born in New York but accompanied her sister Consuelo to England when the latter was married to Viscount Mandeville. She later moved to Paris but fled from the city on the approach of the Germans, and returned here in 1942. Her other sister, Natica, was married to Sir John Pepys Lister-Kaye.b She died in February, 1943.
