He married Alice Lee Hall on 24 Oct 1882 in Buncombe County but by 1900 he was living in Anderson Creek Twp in Harnett County with his wife and eight children, four daughters and four sons. They added one more child who died between 1900 and 1910. Alice is buried next to him.
