Obituary

A shadow has fallen upon our community in the death of one of our bedt loved, men, Mr. James B. Perrine. Mr. Perrine was horn in Cayuga county, January 29th, 1826, His father James Perrine was a descendant of the sturdy Hugenots. When quite young the subject of our sketch moved to West Sparta. in Livingston county where he remained in the love and confidence of his relatives and neighbors until the day of his death, on Sept. 26,1803.

On the 18th of January, 1858, be was married to Miss Elizabeth Chapman. Fifty years of felicitous union were celebrated at a happy commemorative gathering last winter. It is pleasing to note that though God gave them a large family, death has not invaded its ranks until this time. Mr. Perrine is survived by his wife and seven children who greatly lament the loss of so noble a husband and father.

A man of public spirit, rare endowments, and a strong supporter of the church, we all mourn his loss. The funeral service was held at the house on Sept. 29th and was conducted by Rev. John Humphrey. Interment took place at Mt. Morris cemetery.
