Erick James Allgaier "Gator", 34, passed away Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at his residence.

He was born in Herrin on Aug. 24, 1974, to Althea JoAnn Bearden and the late James Joseph Allgaier.

On Aug. 16, 2004, he married Denise Jerrels Bishop, and she survives.

Erick was a correctional officer, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in Desert Storm. He was a Christian by faith.

Surviving family members include his wife, Denise Allgaier of Harrisburg; stepdaughter, Jordin Jerrels of Harrisburg; son, Skyeler Allgaier of Harrisburg; mother, Althea Allgaier of Marion; brother, T.J. (Kerri) Allgaier of Marion; sister, Sarah Jo Allgaier of Marion; grandparents, Everett and Julie Allgaier of Marion; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Allgaier; grandparents, Mildred and Earl Bearden; great-uncle, Herman Bearden; and great-aunt, Annie Moore.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, in Reed Funeral Chapel, with Elder Ronald Williams officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at the chapel. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 167.
