Kenneth S. Adkins, 65, of the Lis community died at 9:45 pm, Wednesday, March 10, 1982, in his home.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm Saturday at Buchanan funeral home in Newton, with Rev. Robert W. Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 pm Friday at Buchanan's. Burial and graveside military rites will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Newton.
Mr. Adkins was born Jan. 29, 1917, in Masonville, Ia., a son of the late B.T. and Fannie (Lambird) Adkins. He was a farmer, a member of Grace United Methodist church, Jasper Post No. 20 of the American Legion, Newton Moose and served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He married Carmen Wilson, and she survives.
Also surviving are two brothers, John of Newton and Lowell of Mattoon; and one sister, Mrs. Alice Wright of St. Louis, MO
