Harold was born in Salt Lake City on May 27, 1919 to Joshua Percy and Verna Wright Goddard.

He passed away at age ninety-four on Saturday, June 22, 2013.

Harold attended schools in Salt Lake City, including East High School and the University of Utah.

Married Gloria Cecile Manwaring on October 6, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. Prior to their marriage, Harold served a mission beginning in Australia and then transferring to the Northern States Mission as a result of war in the South Pacific. He served in the Navy during WWII.

Harold had a lovely singing voice and was a member of the Tabernacle Choir. He joined and eventually owned the family business, Guthrie Bicycle Co., now in its fifth generation.

Harold and Gloria met monthly for over fifty years with dear college friends as a "Study Group." He and his wife enjoyed a wonderful LDS mission in Nauvoo, Illinois.

Harold loved flowers, sunsets, gardening, triple-crown-horse races, BYU football, and had a passion for healthy eating and sharing his insights with others. His family affectionately named their morning concoction of sprouts, brewer's yeast, papaya, etc. as "protein monotonous." He struggled with ill health for many years but outlived most of his peers.

Most importantly, Harold was a stalwart member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a firm testimony and a great love for the Savior, the scriptures and the temple.

Survived by wife, Gloria; children, David (Bonnie), Richard (Kathy), Janet (Ron) Johnson, Carol (John) Homer, and Cherilyn and her fiancé, Rolynn Perri; twenty-one grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013 in the Riverton Sixteenth Ward Chapel, 1208 West 12400 South. There will be a viewing held on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley Mortuary, 1007 West South Jordan Parkway (10600 South), and prior to the services at the church on Friday from 11:00-11:45 a.m.
