DALLASTOWN, Charles S. Ness, 89, of Dallastown, died at 1:07 a.m. Sunday at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Margaret V. (Strayer) Ness.

The service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 109 E. Main St., Dallastown. Burial will be in Dallastown Union Cemetery. Viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Mr. Ness was born June 26, 1905, in York Township. He was the son of the late Tempest W. and Rebecca Torus (Hess) Ness.

He was a miller with the Eshelman Feed Co. in York, retiring in 1970, and a former caretaker of the Home Cemetery. He was a member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Dallastown, Men's Bible Class and former treasurer, and a 1922 graduate of Dallastown Area High School.

Mr. Ness is survived by a daughter, Torus Y. Crouse of Dallastown; three grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas Ness of Yoe; and a sister, Emma Weir of York.

Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Richard G. Felty.
