BYRON CORLISS BURRILL
LINCOLN – Byron Corliss Burrill, 83, husband of Barbara (Decker) Burrill, passed away June 3, 2008, at Penobscot Valley Hospital, Lincoln. Byron was born April 20, 1925, on the Half-Township Road, Lincoln, the son of Stephen and Bernice (Fogg) Burrill. Byron worked in the woods with his father and brothers as a youth, using horses to yard out the wood they cut with bucksaws. Byron worked on construction and farming. He enjoyed his John Deere tractor and carpentry work. He also was a member of the Masons, Olive Branch Lodge No. 124, Charleston, for 52 years. Byron is survived by his wife of 45 years; and eight children, Bernice Burrill Stockley and her husband, Alan, of Chester, Barbara C. Burrill of Lincoln, Daniel B. Burrill of Rhode Island, Jonathan Richards, William Richards, Bonnie McClure, Rose Frazier and Edward Richards; brothers, Prince, Walter, Floyd and Carlton; sisters, Evelyn Burrill Shurtleff and Adria Burrill Wight; several grandchildren; and a very special granddaughter, Leela Briana Stockley, who held a very special spot in her grandfathers heart. Byron was predeceased by his brothers, Albert, Vincent, Dale, Calvin and David Burrill; sisters, Beaulah Burrill Burridge, Pearl Burrill Owens and Vera Burrill. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday June 5, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, with a Masonic funeral held 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. June 6 at the funeral home with the Rev. Darrell Joiner officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Byron’s memory may be made to Penobscot Valley Humane Society, Park Street, Lincoln ME 04457.
