Sgt. Lowe was an officer on the City of York police force for 22 years. Married to his childhood sweetheart Cherie Montero-Lowe and father of three children and three stepchildren.He was also survived by his brother Michael Lowe and a special sister Shannon Shaffer. He was an alumnus of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Sgt. Lowe was honored in March 2013 for his heroism in the line of duty by the City of York Police Force.
YORK Edward T. "Ed" Lowe, Jr., 52, died Saturday, August 1, 2015, at his residence. He was the husband of Cherie L. Montero-Lowe. Born September 16, 1962, in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Ruth Ann (Oney) and Edward T. Lowe, Sr. Ed was a police officer for the City of York for 22 years. He was a member of First Assembly of God and was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police. Ed coached Dallastown Cougars football and baseball for many years. He loved fishing and hunting and especially being in the mountains. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Edward R. Lowe and Dalton T. Lowe; and a daughter, Gillian C. Lowe, all at home; a brother, Michael P. and his wife, Jessica Lowe of Bensalem; a niece, Madison; a nephew, Daniel Lowe of Bensalem; and a special sister, Shannon Shaffer of York. He is also survived by stepchildren, Shaun, Stephanie and Bridget; and numerous cousins from the Pocono Mountains. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Fourth United Methodist Church, 1067 E. Market St., York. Visitations will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Etzweiler Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, 1111 E. Market St., York, and Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. Honors will be provided by the York City Police Department Honor Guard along with active police officers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to AseraCare Hospice, 44 Bowman Road, York, PA 17408; or to York Health Foundation for Cancer Patient Help Fund, 50 N.
