Funeral services for Mr. William Gerald Allen, age 77, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2015 in the chapel of Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in Big Springs Cemetery in Pinson.
On Friday, August 7, 2015, William Gerald Allen, of Pinson, TN, joined his wife, Loretta "Kay" Frye Allen in heaven. They were married on December 22, 1957, having 56 years together until her passing on September 16, 2013. They are finally together again after almost 2 years.
Gerald was born in Madison County, TN. He attended the Pinson School, graduating from Pinson High School in 1956. He attended Northwestern University's Law Enforcement Academy. Gerald proudly served his country in the Air Force and retired from the National Guard. He served the State of Tennessee from 1966 to 2002 starting as a road state trooper, and climbing to Captain of the 8th District here in Madison County. He retired as a Director with the Department of Safety in 2002 after 35 years of dedicated service. Gerald was a long time member and Sunday School teacher at Big Springs Methodist Church.
He was also preceded in death by his son, David Gerald Allen; his father, Harold Allen and his mother, Mildred Thelma Ward Allen from Pinson.
