STONINGTON - Bessie A. Gray, 92, died at an Ellsworth health care facility April 14, 2003. She was born at Stoning-ton July 13, 1910, the daughter of Oscar and Josephine (Gardner) Sellers.
She graduated from the Stonington High School in 1928. She was a member for more than 40 years of the Deer Isle Grange No. 296, the State and Pomona Granges. She was a member of the Island Senior Citizens and resided for several years at the Homeport of the Island Nursing Home. Bessie enjoyed her handy-crafts and flower gardens.
She is survived by her son, Douglas Gray, and his wife, Pamela, of Bucksport; two grandsons, James and Shane Gray; two nieces, Jeannine (Judkins) Buckminster and Rosemarie (Robbins) Peatman; and one nephew, Everett Allen. Bessie was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Wilbert J. Gray, in 1999 and by her three sisters, Mildred Allen, Muriel Judkins and Elner Robbins.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Greenwood Cemetery, Oceanville District, Stonington, with Rev. Gary Vencill officiating. At her request, there will be no visiting hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Island Nursing Home, RFD Box 124, Deer Isle, ME 04627. Arrangements are in care of Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Stonington.
