Mrs. Griffiths died at her home in Cambria township last Friday, having suffered a long time from cancer. Interment took place in the Bath cemetery on Sunday, the funeral services having been held in the Plana church.

Mrs. Elizabeth Griffiths

Plana, S.D., April 26 – Mrs. David Griffiths died on Friday, April 22d, at 12 o'clock, noon, at her home two mile east of Plana. The cause of her death was cancer of the breast, from which she had been afflicted for nearly two years. She has been feeble for some time and the end was anticipated. The funeral occurred on Sunday afternoon ad was attended by a large number of people from here and from abroad. The services were held at the Plana church and were ably conducted by Rev. Daniel Morgans.

Mrs. Griffiths' residence in the community dates from its early settlement. She had a wide acquaintance and leaves many friends. She was born in Llanasa, North Wales, on February 8, 1850. She departed this life April 22, 1904, thus reaching the age of more than 54 years.

She came to America in 1869 and settled in Lacrosse county, Wis. Here she met Mr. Griffiths and six years later, in 1875, there were united in marriage. In the year 1881 they moved to this county and settled on a farm near Plana. Mr. Griffiths died on March 1, 1886. To them were born seven children, three daughters and four sons, six of whom survive to mourn the loss, besides five brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Griffiths was never known to turn any one away from her door hungry; where sickness was she was there.
