Born in Neu Bruecke, Rheinland-Pfalz, West Germany, he was a son of the late Joseph Edward Williams and Sigtrud Sigrun Scheu Williams. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, Sumter, SC.
He was born in West Germany on July 1, 1969. Walter spent much of his early childhood moving around the country to different army bases where his father was stationed. At the age of 13, he moved to Columbia, SC, where he made many life-long friends. Walter would later move to Sumter, SC, where he would meet the love of his life, Angela Nichols Williams, with whom he would have three children. Although unaware of it at the time of his death, Walter Williams touched the lives of all who knew him. If a man is judged by the deeds he has done, then he was a great man. This world is truly a lesser place without him, but heaven is now that much greater.

Matthew J. Williams of Sumter, SC;
daughter, Natalie Jane C. Williams of Sumter, SC;
