Nina Margaret Barton of St. George, Utah, formerly of Weiser, Idaho, passed away June 26, 2006, at the age of 89.

She was born to Ina and Herbert Garrett on May 17, 1917, in Hooker, Okla. She was raised and attended school in Hooker. She married Alexander Williamson in 1931 and together they had two daughters. They were later divorced.

She was a professional seamstress and made her own patterns for herself and her children. With two children to raise, pretty much by herself, she always found a job. She worked in dry-cleaning establishments doing both alterations and pressing. Her hobbies were crocheting, knitting, and all kinds of crafts. She could have set up a craft store with the items she had. There were not many things that she couldn't do as she was very talented. Nina loved reading and visiting with her family and friends.

She moved to Payette, Idaho, where she met and married Chester Barton. She became a member of the LDS Church in July of 1999 after many years of postponing that decision. Joining the church totally changed her life as she became more outgoing because of her calling as a visiting teacher and later as a visiting teacher supervisor. She would very excitingly tell us about everyone she visited and called. She was totally dedicated to her callings.

Her husband of 30 plus years, Chester P. Barton, passed away on July 4, 2000, in Weiser. It was two years later that she moved to St. George to be closer to family. It was hard for her to leave her friends in Weiser, but she has made many friends since she moved to St. George. She loved people and loved to visit — it was hard to get away once you started visiting with her.

One of her most treasured moments was when she was sealed to her family in the St. George LDS Temple. She was a member of the DAVA and the Eastern Star for many years, serving in several positions.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester P. Barton, daughter, Patricia Mae Long Alger, son-in-law, Douglas Zabriskie, great-grandson, Ryan Patrick Lueck, three sisters, Minnie Young, Ruby Strong and June Smith, brother, William, and her parents, Ina and Bert Garrett.

Nina is survived by her daughter Evelyn Josephine Zabriskie of St. George, Utah, 10 grandchildren; Linda Gail (Don) Williamson, Logan, Utah, Bruce Douglas Zahriskie, Preston, Idaho, Sheryl Ann (Collin) Barfus, Hyrum, Utah, Jeffrey Lynn (Cindy) Zabriskie, Boise, Idaho, Becky Jean Stewart, Logan, Utah, Kenneth James (Jennifer) Zabriskie, Lehi, Utah, Nina Sue (Greg) Butterfield, Onalaska, Wis., William Scott, Long, Wis., Kim Renee (Dan) Coleman, Mauston, Wis., John Allen Long, Phoenix, Ariz.; 19 great-grandchildren; Tricia Marie Butterfield, Jennifer Kay Butterfield, Kody Lynn (Amanda) Zabriskie, Kristopher Cleon (Rebecca) Zabriskie, Kenton Douglas (Crystal) Zabriskie, Valerie Ann Barfus, Ryan Douglas Zabriskie, Melissa Dawn Stewart, Wesley Douglas Zabriskie, Tony Lynn Zabriskie, Amanda Michelle Zabriskie, Connor James Zabriskie, Samuel Douglas Zabriskie, Hannah Giselle Zabriskie, Brian Morgan Long, Kaitlynn Nicole Long, Curtis Scott Long, Sterling Long, and Nicholas David Coman, and six great-great-grandchildren; Markus Tyrez Zabriske, Kristan Ty Zabriskie, Dominick Tyler Zabriskie, Jessica Lynn Zabriskie, Ashton Jay Zabriske, and Derek Lee Parkins.

The family would like give a special thanks to Dixie Regional Medical Center, Porter's Nursing Home, Coral Desert Rehab, Hospice Alliance, and all family, friends, and neighbors who have shown their support and love.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at the Weiser, Idaho Stake Center, 300 East Main, Weiser, Idaho. A viewing will be held in honor of Nina prior to the service on Friday from 9:45-10:45 in the Weiser, Idaho Stake Center. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Annex, Ore., under the direction of Heideman Mortuary.
