Lola L. Hardin, 100, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Sunday evening, August 9, 2015, at Clover Ridge Place in Maquoketa, Iowa.

A celebration of Lola's life will be held at 1 P.M., Saturday, August 15, 2015, from the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:30 to 1 P.M. at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery, rural Monmouth, Iowa.

Lola Louise Freeman was born on December 1, 1914 in Dubuque, Iowa, to Robert R. and Claire (Curran) Freeman. She graduated from Cascade High School and married Dylon L. Hardin on August 19, 1933 in Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her in death on September 15, 1991.

Lola and her husband farmed together in the Emeline area until the early 1970's when they moved to the Justin, Texas area, and returned to Maquoketa in 1989.

Lola had worked as a clerk for Max Ray Jewelry store in Maquoketa. She was a avid quilter and met with several friends twice a month to make quilts for DAC in Maquoketa, Camp Couragous and the Project Linus group.

Those left to honor Lola's memory include her daughter Joyce (Lanny) Babbitt of Barrington, IL; 2 grandchildren; and a sister, Maribel Binns of Iron Hill, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and her son Richard "R.J." Hardin on July 16, 2015.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to Hospice of Jackson County.
