The general rumor within the family is that Charles was a sailor until he arrived here, then he became a Stone Mason. He was subcontracted to do the West Wing steps of the Capitol Building in the 1890's. It is said that he was going on a fishing trip down the Missouri River, and he just disappeared, with no trace ever showing up again.
The last Census I found him in was Kansas State census was 1905.
