Billy V. Wilkerson, 91, of 202 Sherwood Drive, Gaffney, S.C. went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at his residence.
Born in 17 April, 1924 Gaffney, he was the husband of Nettie Haynes Wilkerson for 66 years and son of the late Paul Wilkerson and Edna Whelchel Wilkerson.
He retired from Wilkerson Plumbing and Septic Tank Service, and was an active member of Southside Baptist Church where he previously served as a deacon. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a Mason and Shriner.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a brother, Edd Wilkerson and wife, Doris, of Gaffney; two grandsons, Christopher and Johnathan, and four great-grandchildren, Brian, Troy, Alexis and Caleb.
He was preceded in death by a son, Scott Wilkerson, a brother, Roy, and four sisters, Marion Lozynski, Gayle Tindall, Frances Mullins and Roxie Scruggs.
Jack Smiley served as a blessing to Bill during his illness, not only as a special caregiver but as a friend. Thank you Jack!!! The family would also like to give a special thanks to Agape Hospice nurses and employees for the care given.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wofford Caughman officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Southside Baptist Church, “Debt Retirement Fund”, 204 W. O’Neal Street, Gaffney, S.C. 29340.
The family will be at the residence, 202 Sherwood Drive, Gaffney.
