Mary, oldest daughter of John and Elizabeth Hechtner, was born March 27, 1864 near Princeton, Illinois, and died in Princeton, Feb. 17, 1937. All the years of the early life of the departed were spent on a farm in Bureau Township. On Feb 23, 1882, she was united in marriage with Mr. Andrew Rudiger of Manlius. To this union were born three children, two daughters and one son. The daughters are Elizabeth J., wife of Clyde Conkling of Bureau Township and Isabelle F., wife of Fred Hasenyager of Princeton. The son, Charles passed away in 1922.

After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Rudiger lived in Bureau Township until 21 years ago when they moved to Princeton. Mr. Rudiger passed away Mar. 17, 1934.

Besides her daughters, Mrs. Rudiger leaves behind her 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Two brothers and four sisters also remain. They are Emma, wife of William Dreman, Elizabeth, wife of Herman Dreman, Caroline, wife of Thos. Yingling, Minnie, wife of Joe Johnson, John Hechtner of Sac City, Ia., and Charles Hechtner of Bureau Township.
