Imogene Phelps, age 71 years, a resident of rural Vienna, IL, passed away Wednesday morning, August 12, 2015 at 11:08 AM at her home. Imogene was born February 9, 1944 in Pope County Illinois. She was the daughter of Marion and Floya (Belford) Bebout. Imogene was united in marriage to Ray Arnold Phelps on June 26, 1960 in Pope County. He survives. Other survivors include a daughter Tammy Eudy of Vienna; a son- Chad (Angela) Phelps of Simpson; 3 grandchildren- Chastity Eudy, Clayton Phelps and Caitlyn Phelps; 1 great grandson- Caden Kerley; a brother- Clyde Bebout of Harrisburg; a sister- Evalene Gulley of Harrisburg; a sister-in-law- Roselee Bebout of Harrisburg; 2 brother-in-laws- Wayne Ingle of Simpson and Don Galloro of Hunting Beach, California; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, Imogene was preceded in death by; 5 brothers- Clarence, Clifford, Lacy, Lendall and Leonard Bebout; 4 sisters- Myrean Winders, Lorene McClanahan Knakmuhs, Bonnie Galloro and Connie Ingle; 5 sister-in-laws- Alma, Ruby, Ida, Phyllis and Ethel Bebout; 4 brother-in-laws- Bill Winders, Delmar McClanahan, Conrad Knakmuhs and Denzel Gulley; a son-in-law- Melvin Eudy. Imogene had worked as a secretary at the Clyde Choate Mental Health Center in Anna. She had also served as the Deputy Clerk and Recorder during the administration of Cletis Morris, former Johnson County Clerk and Recorder. Later, she was employed at Shawnee Correctional Center as an Executive Secretary to the Assistant Warden, until her retirement. Imogene was a member of the Simpson Baptist Church but was more recently attending Fellowship Baptist Church in Vienna. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family. She particularly cherished time spent with her grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, August 15, 2015, at 10 AM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Brother Tommy Gray will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 PM – 8 PM Friday, August 14, 2015, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna.
