Doc, 96, Wapakoneta, died at 8:35 a.m., at Otterbein.

He was the son of Marion Franklin and Leona (Wheeler) Baker. On Sep 27, 1939, he married Mary Kathryn Place, who preceded him in death Sep 29, 2011.

He is survived by family and friends.

He was a 1935 graduate of Buckland High School. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1942 as a D.V.M. He operated a veterinary practice in Spencerville from 1942-1955. In the interim he did a Teaching Fellowship at Michigan State University from 1947-1948. He then was a consultant with Ft. Dodge Laboratories from 1955-1958. He was the Director of Veterinary Research with Abbott Laboratories, North Chicago, IL, from 1958-1963. In 1963 he built Baker Animal Hospital, Cridersville, and retired from practice in 1980. He was a member of the Admissions Board at The Ohio State University Veterinary School. He was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Ohio V.M.A., and the Lima V.M.A. He was one of the founding members of the Cridersville Historical Association and also the Finance Chair for the Republican Party of Auglaize County.

Per his request funeral service will be for immediate family only.
