September 28, 1893:

—George W. Cruthers was born in Perry, Wyoming Co., N. Y., Feb. 18, 1825, and died in Prattsburgh Sept. 13, 1893.

When he was ten years old he removed with his parents to Seneca, Ont. Co. N. Y. When 16 years of age he engaged with William Briglin of Prattsburgh to learn the carpenter's trade. In 1894 (sic) he married Margaret L. Armstrong of Prattsburgh, who, with one son, William, survives him. He worked at his trade in Chapinville, Ont. Co., until 1854, when he bought the farm on West Hill in Prattsburgh which was his home until his death. Deceased was possessed of many good qualities of mind and heart: a kind husband and parent; a true friend, an obliging neighbor, a peace-loving citizen. He had been the victim of consumption for about two years. He knew that his time was short and he expressed himself ready and willing to depart and be at rest.
