MRS. MARY DEWITT.

Mrs. Mary Carruthers DeWitt, 53-year-old wife of Glenn DeWitt of 1617 West Main street, died at her home Sunday at 11:15 p.m.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hein, she was born November 25, 1898, in Ottumwa and had lived here all her life.

Mrs. DeWitt is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Aubrey of Ottumwa; two sons, Harold and Howard Carruthers, both of Ottumwa; four stepchildren; 13 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Davis, Mrs. Katherine Veach and Mrs. Theresa Martin, all of Ottumwa, and one brother, Paul Hein of Iowa City.

The body will be taken from the Vaughan funeral home at 5 p.m. today to the DeWitt residence where it will remain pending completion of arrangements.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Carruthers DeWitt of 1817 West Main street, who died at her home Sunday evening, will be held Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the DeWitt home and at 9 o'clock in St. Mary's Catholic church where a requiem high mass will be celebrated by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Walter E. Cullinan. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.

Friends will meet tonight at 8 o'clock at the DeWitt home to recite the rosary.

Mrs. DeWitt is survived by her husband, Glen DeWitt; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Aubrey of Ottumwa; two sons, Harold and Howard Carruthers, both of Ottumwa; four stepchildren; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Davis, Mrs. Katherine Veach and Mrs. Theresa Martin, all of Ottumwa; and one brother, Paul Hein of Iowa City.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Elwood Carruthers, in 1948, and by her parents.
