Emily married John Henry Davis on July 5, 1892, in Keosauqua, Van Buren County, Iowa. Her name is spelled Emma Jane on the marriage record, and her parents are shown as Simon and Alunda or Alinda (King) Powell. Her mother's name was Almeda.

Obituary From "Ottumwa Courier," February 24, 1962:

Mrs. Emily Davis, 90, of 1007 Center, died Friday night at Peoria, Ill.

She was a resident of Ottumwa for 50 years. The past few years she had made her home here with a daughter, Mrs. Otto Ammenhauser, and had been with another daughter, Mrs. Pearl Berrisford, in Peoria the past 2 months.

She was born April 28, 1871, at Troy. She married John Davis who died in 1950.

Surviving also are three other daughters, Mrs. Cuba Hunter of Salinas, Calif., Mrs. Belma Gallagher of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Mrs. Bessie Black of Eureka, Kan.; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held this afternoon at Shaul Cemetery, with Rev. Cecil Latta officiating.
