Tim S. Berry, 77, of Crossett died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at the Ashley County Medical Center. Born January 6, 1924, to Thomas H and Mary Ellen Cauthen Berry in Sparkman, he was an Air Force veteran of World War II, serving as an airplane electrical mechanic for the Thirtieth Bomber Squadron. He was stationed in Guam during the air offensive campaign in the Western Pacific. His decorations and citations included the World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, AP Theater Ribbon and two Bronze Service Stars. He was honorably discharged January 1, 1946, with the rank of sergeant, but continued to serve in the reserve corps for four more years. A member of the First Baptist Church and a retired particle board plant superintendent, he was very active at the Crossett Senior Citizen Center and enjoyed traveling and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sibyl Berry; two infants sons, and two brothers, Daniel and Gervais Berry.
Survivors include two daughters, Julie LaFoon of Crossett and Pam Glosup of Bastrop, LA; two brothers, Thomas H. Berry of Texarkana and Gerald A. Berry of Sutherland, VA: and four grandchildren, Jason Keen of Shreveport, LA, and Benjamin, Wesley and Rosalind LaFoon, all of Crossett.
Funeral services were planned for 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 10, in the Jones Funeral Home chapel in Crossett with Buddy Kinney and Jerry Grant officiating. Burial was to follow services at the Carter Cemetery.
